Outdoor furniture is where Bali punishes shortcuts. The same terrace that looks like paradise in a photo serves up equatorial UV, 80% humidity, salt air off the ocean and four months of monsoon rain — and it does that every single year. Most imported "outdoor" sets are engineered for a European summer, not for this. This guide covers what we build outdoor pieces from, what custom garden and patio furniture actually costs here, and how to spec a set that still looks right in 2031.

The Materials That Survive a Bali Terrace

Grade A teak is the default for a reason — the natural oils shrug off rain and the dense grain stays stable through wet-dry cycles. It is what we use for dining sets, loungers and daybeds that live fully uncovered; our teak guide goes deep on grades. Synthetic rattan (HDPE weave over powder-coated aluminium) is the right call for cushioned lounge sets under a roofline: it never rots, wipes clean and weighs little. Natural rattan, much as we love it indoors, does not belong in the rain. Reclaimed ironwood and ulin take brutal exposure — think poolside benches — and weather to silver instead of failing. What we do not recommend outdoors: MDF anything, chrome-plated steel, and fabric that is not genuinely solution-dyed.

What Outdoor Pieces Cost in Bali

Made-to-order pricing from our workshop, as honest ranges — the exact number depends on dimensions, timber grade and finish:

PieceIndicative price (IDR)
Teak garden dining set (table + 6 chairs)18–45 million
Teak sun lounger4.5–9 million each
Teak daybed / poolside canopy bed9–25 million
Synthetic rattan lounge set (sofa + 2 chairs + table)15–35 million
Outdoor bar set (bar + 4 stools)10–22 million
Reclaimed-wood garden bench3.5–8 million

Those numbers usually land 30–50% below what comparable made-to-order quality costs landed in Australia or Europe — which is why a good share of our export orders are outdoor sets. Ready-made showroom pieces around Kuta and Seminyak can be cheaper still, but you are then choosing from what exists rather than what fits your terrace. The full picture is on our price guide.

Custom vs Off-the-Floor

Bali's furniture strips are full of outdoor sets you can buy today, and for a rental villa on a deadline that is sometimes the right move. Custom wins on the things that show for a decade: your dimensions (a bench built to the exact 3.4-metre wall), your timber grade (showroom "teak" is often Grade B or mixed), proper joinery instead of screws into end grain, and marine-grade fittings. Lead time from drawing to delivery is typically 4–8 weeks — the honest cost of getting exactly the piece. We covered the trade-off in detail in import vs custom.

Making Outdoor Furniture Last Here

How a Custom Outdoor Order Works

Send us a photo of your terrace, a sketch or just dimensions on WhatsApp. We reply with material options, a drawing and a firm quote; you approve, we build, and delivery anywhere in Bali is included — most outdoor sets go from confirmed drawing to installed terrace in 4–8 weeks. Browse the ready designs in our outdoor & garden furniture collection to start from something, or start from a blank page — both work.

FAQ

What is the best outdoor furniture material for Bali?
Grade A teak for uncovered pieces — its natural oils handle rain and UV — and synthetic rattan (HDPE) over aluminium for cushioned lounge sets under cover. Reclaimed ironwood suits harsh poolside spots. Avoid MDF, chrome steel and natural rattan outdoors.
How much does outdoor furniture cost in Bali?
Made to order from our workshop: teak dining sets IDR 18–45 million, sun loungers IDR 4.5–9 million each, synthetic rattan lounge sets IDR 15–35 million, daybeds IDR 9–25 million. Typically 30–50% below comparable custom quality in Australia or Europe.
How long does a custom outdoor set take?
Most outdoor orders run 4–8 weeks from approved drawing to delivery, depending on complexity and finish. Delivery anywhere in Bali is included; we also pack for export.
Should teak outdoor furniture be oiled or left to weather?
Both are correct — oiled twice a year it keeps the honey colour; left alone it weathers to an even silver-grey with no loss of strength. Pick one approach and stick to it; switching back means sanding.
Can you copy an outdoor set from a photo?
Yes — a photo plus dimensions is how many orders start. We adapt the design to outdoor-grade joinery and materials, send a drawing and firm quote, and build to that spec.
