Why Build a Dining Table Rather Than Buy One

Most ready-made dining tables sold in Bali are either thin veneer over board — which delaminates within a season in this humidity — or solid wood in a size that never quite fits the room. Building to order fixes both: you get genuinely solid timber and a table that lands exactly in your space, with the right overhang for chairs and the right height for your floor.

Reclaimed teak is especially good for dining tables because the wood is already decades old and fully stable, so it will not warp or split the way fresh-cut timber can. Often yes — send photos with dimensions and we will reproduce the proportions and finish as closely as the available timber allows, or build a sturdier version of the same design.

How big a table can you build?

We regularly build dining tables up to 4 metres for restaurants and villa banquet rooms. Beyond that we use a discreet jointed top or a two-piece design that still reads as one table.

Which wood is best for a dining table in Bali?
